In 1955, some volunteers designed a Natural Science Park in Natick's Town Forest, just south of Route 9 in East Natick. It was designed to introduce students and teachers to the outdoor classroom and to build a general appreciation of nature.
Most traces of this educational project have disappeared, but it would be worthy of recreation. Its Guide Manual, published for the Natural Science Park's opening in 1955 and reprinted in 1964, lives on in a few repositories in Natick. Now, Jill Miller and I have placed it online here (as a 1.1MB .pdf file requiring Adobe Acrobat Reader, Open Office Writer, or the like).
